Season 14 "Awakening of Death" Guide
Season 14, "Awakening of Death", went live on 1 July alongside patch 3.1.0. Alongside a seasonal theme about hunting the Death Cult, it massively expands how unique items progress.
The short version
- Seasonal theme: close the Chaos Rifts appearing across Sanctuary and hunt the Death Cult
- Collect Glimmers of Hope from completed rifts and spend them on the seasonal reputation board
- Mythic Uniques 3.0 — every unique item can now be upgraded to mythic
- New cosmetic rewards in the Tower, plus a dedicated solo self-found leaderboard
Chaos Rifts
This is the season's core activity. Arcane tears called Chaos Rifts open across Sanctuary in three varieties. Rifts pay out more the longer you leave them open, so when you can handle it, keep killing before you close one rather than shutting it immediately.
Closing a rift grants the seasonal currency Glimmer of Hope, which you trade on the seasonal reputation board for gear, materials and cosmetics. The season journey and reputation board accelerate early progression considerably, so keep working on them while leveling.
World Wanderers and the Vaults of Death's Weight
Completing Overflowing and Massive Rifts summons a powerful boss, the World Wanderer. Killing it opens a portal to a Vault of Death's Weight with extra rewards. It makes a good gear-farming loop from mid-season onward.
Mythic Uniques 3.0
The biggest change this season: any unique item can be upgraded to mythic quality.
- Craft it at the Horadric Chest or the Jeweler
- Earn it from seasonal Lair Boss kills
- Earn it through season rank (season journey progress)

The Tower and leaderboards
The Tower has new cosmetic rewards, and there is now a dedicated solo self-found (SSF) leaderboard. Worth a look if you enjoy farming everything yourself without trading.
Reward highlights
- 5 mythic unique caches
- Up to 12 skill points and 42 Paragon points from season progress
- Cosmetics including the Greystone pet and the Reaper's Remains mount
Those extra skill and Paragon points feed straight into how complete your build is, so make the season journey your first priority.
What should I actually do this season?
- Pick a build from the Season 14 tier list
- Level while running Chaos Rifts and the season journey
- At cap, grow your gear in The Pit and Nightmare Dungeons
- Farm Lair Bosses for uniques, then upgrade them to mythic
- Push the Tower and the leaderboards
